Assistant Minister
Stanley Tyrone Talbert became the assistant minister at the Kings Church of Christ in January 2012 after a successful internship with the congregation in the summer of 2010.
Tyrone, as he’s known, is a native Texan. He’s from Mount Pleasant, TX and is the son of Stanley and Joyce Talbert. He also has three sisters– Shanita, Krystal, and Cassondra. Tyrone began preaching at the age of 9 under the guidance of Bro. J.K. Hamilton, minister of the Mountain View Church of Christ in Dallas. He was led to Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, TX, where he sang in the Southwestern Christian College Summer Tour of 2009 and eventually received an A.S. in Biblical Studies. From there, he received his B.A. in Religion from Pepperdine University, where Dr. Raymond Carr became Talbert’s advisor and mentor. Tyrone has also held other internships at great churches, including the Laurel St. CoC in San Antonio, TX, Greenville Ave. CoC in Richmond, TX, and at the Normandie CoC in Los Angeles, CA.
Tyrone is currently pursuing an M.Div. in systematic theology at Union Theological Seminary in the city of New York, and is a student and advisee of the father of black liberation theology, Dr. James H. Cone.
Asst. Minister Talbert always makes it known he’s blessed and privileged to have the senior minister of Kings, David E. Wilson, as his father in the Gospel.
